1992. I was so fascinated by this area (Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass) around 1992 that I would spend my weekends going there with various cameras. For close to a year I used small, medium and large format cameras to photograph the area. I had no idea that it would be “upscaled” years later and that many of these abandoned buildings, that went back to Civil War time are gone and/or replaced by condos. I’m glad I took the time.
*** I was told that this is 85 Water Street, and that the building was used on This Old House for a complete makeover. There is now a restaurant there, and some living space.
