ABOUT THE PRINT MEDIA

Prints are produced with archival Epson Ultrachrome K3 inks and ILFORD SMOOTH PEARL PAPER. This is a bright paper with a wide dynamic range, perfect for black and white images.  RC Lustre is printed on the Ilford Smooth Pearl RC inkjet paper, which Wilhelm Imaging Research gave a top rating for longevity.  All prints are borderless.  They are signed and dated on the back.  Limited Edition prints (LTD) are also numbered on the back.  All prints include a Signed Certificate of Authenticity which can be taped to the back of the framed print.

THERE WAS A TIME WHEN I PERSONALLY PRINTED EACH ORDER. GIVEN THE LARGE NUMBER OF ORDERS I NOW RECEIVE, THIS ISN’T POSSIBLE.  I USE THE BEST LAB IN THE COUNTRY THAT SPECIALIZES IN BLACK AND WHITE PHOTOGRAPHY (www.DigitalSilverImaging.com).  My high resolution files are uploaded to them, and they ship the finished prints to me for my approval, packaging, and signing etc.  I see and approve every print that goes to you.  As you can imagine, my entire business is based on the quality of these prints – and it took lots of testing to arrive at DSI to reproduce my work.

CAN I PLACE MY ORDER BY PHONE?

Yes. Phone number: (212) 570-4622
Odds are you’ll get the answering machine. Leave me a message and I’ll call you back to take down shipping / credit card info / prints. Please know the title of the prints and the size(s) you plan to order. (You should know that when you place your order through the site using Paypal, I don’t save your credit card number or any other information. Not even your address. It’s all saved at Paypal).

I DON’T HAVE A PAYPAL ACCOUNT. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

You don’t need a Paypal account to order. They accept Credit Cards and e-checks. If you do have a Paypal account, then you can use it if you want to.

DO YOU OFFER MATS OR FRAMING?

No.  The simple reason is that the amount of labor involved (and I did used to offer mats) would force me to increase prices substantially. On top of that, my skills are in printing and photographing, and that’s really what you should be paying for. Framing is a craft and a personal choice and should be discussed between you and the framer.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO RECEIVE PRINT(S)?

Figure about two or three weeks for prints to be shipped.   Shipping time is UPS ground or USPS Priority (1-3 days). Which method I use depends on how far you are from NYC.

In other words, I’m shipping from New York. If you live in NJ actual ship time would probably be a day + up to 2 / 3 weeks to print and package.

However, if you have a deadline (this often frequently with art buyers, and with items for gifts) let me via email before placing your order. Generally I can meet your deadline. But keep in mind that prints should “cure” – dry properly before being packaged and that really should take at least a few days.

I am available to have prints picked up directly from me if you want to save the one or two days that UPS shipping takes for most parts of the U.S. You should try and arrange this before placing your order.

UPS will not deliver to a P.O. Box.

An adult signature is normally required unless you tell me otherwise.

WHAT IF I DON’T LIKE THE PRINT?

Send it back. You have 60 days to do that. Let me know by e-mail what the problem was. This is an unlikely event in that I am considered an expert printer and if I am doing your print – you can be assured that I will do a good job and that the print will be well-packaged. I’m in business for over 14 years now (on the web) and business is built with satisfied customers. You don’t go into fine art photography to become rich. You go into it to do your best work and that will show in the print.

WHAT’S INCLUDED WITH THE PRINT?

All prints include a signed and dated Certificate of Authenticity. I don’t offer framing or matting. You’ll also get a sheet with framing and print care instructions.

BUT HOW SAFE IS ORDERING?

I do not save or see your credit card unless of course you order on the phone. Paypal is the most widely used way of accepting payments on the web. It is a secure site. Sometimes people decide they want to purchase something else and assuming that I have their credit card ask me to charge their card again. I have to tell them that I never saw their CC info, and don’t have it stored. So if someone hacked this site, they still wouldn’t get your information. It’s one of the reasons so many people use Paypal.

One Response to “all about the prints”

  1. Hi,

I am going to order two photographs now that are 8×10 and 8×12. I am also in need of two photos that are 4×6. Can you offer any of the New York Photography at that size?

    Thank you,
    Amanda
