(SOLD!!) Seriously thinking of getting rid of the Epson 4800.  I’ve had it since, well whenever it was introduced in the states, add a few months.  I’ll hold onto the 7800 for whatever printing needs arise.  Frankly, since I got the 7800 (again, not exactly clear on time but maybe two years ago) the 4800 has been my so-called back-up, but it’s really only being used to print text all this time and it’s idiotic [more]

Last week, you might remember, they cut the Time Warner cable, or disconnected it.  Whatever internet service out for the day.  Today’s adventure, and I was lucky because I had brushed my teeth and put up some tea to boil.  Yep, a tributary from the water supply was cut.  In other words, you go to the kitchen faucet to get your water for whatever and you are treated to the death rattle gurgle of a [more]

True Grit (New Yorkers)

Quite the storm.  Everywhere you looked there were cars spinning out of control.  Doesn’t anyone listen when they tell you not to take the car out?  Whatever.  We’re New Yorkers.  And so with my side aching (okay Bruce not that badly) I made it out for two separate trips into the blizzard.  It was great because all I wanted these last few months was a chance to do more HDR work. And I had a [more]

Palace Restaurant by James Maher

James Maher had dinner at the Palace Restaurant on 57th street, and took the time to grab a few shots of my prints on the walls.  Nice because I never did do a decent job of it. Although people always promise to take a shot of the prints after they’ve been framed and hung – it’s rare that they remember. It’s a two story restaurant, and I believe there are about 40 – 50 prints. [more]

Zazzle Censors Secret Garden

I’ve been doing a lot of updating (new products) for the Zazzle store.  I really like the process a lot.  I’ve been making stamps lately.  I submitted this picture of The Secret Garden for a stamp: Reason was: o Design may contain nudity and/or be considered sexually suggestive, pornographic or obscene, including most depictions of artistic nudity. Now I’m not sure if this was because it was a stamp and there are stricter rules for [more]

Only one Limited Edition (11 x 14) version of Poets Walk.  Number 100 of 100. Here’s the link to the print. Other sizes will still be available, but no more Limited Editions of the print.  Ever.

I had been using the old theme Modularity for a long time but there were some things dealing with the amount of overhead it was using, and I was tired of it (in the storefront).  So I wanted to see how hard / easy it would be to switch to something a bit lighter which would allow room from the start for larger photos, and I found this one which I installed in a few [more]

I had written extensively about the New York Times article regarding the new wave of amateurs making their way into the market, and this morning was browsing through some of the blogs I link to and came across this post by Ken Smith which makes several points I hadn’t thought about. One of them being the idea of what separates the professional from the amateur.  And it’s something that I hadn’t thought about at all. [more]

SOLVED. My neighbor came by and somehow, with him standing behind me, I managed to find the Epson Leopard driver for the 7800 and install it and it showed up in the printer settings box with all the native Epson stuff I was used to seeing. Now to make a print. Phew… And as an extra bonus, my friend just showed me that this guy comes with a 3D Chess Game.  Heaven. * * * [more]

Mar 192010

The first thing you realize when you open the package with the Mac Pro and look at the thing, is that there doesn’t seem to be any plastic.  Weird.  All my computers have been made out of plastic. At least the box that holds the components.  This guy is a sort of burnished metal, with handles (also part of the one piece construction) at the top, and at the bottom to sit on. Yes, even [more]
