This is one of those images that began as almost all red (straight from the RAW modified DSLR Infrared Camera) that I took the time to paint carefully.  I felt foolish working on it off and on for a few weeks whenever I had a little time.  After a while, you sort of feel that it’s done – but you can still see room for improvement.

So you go in and change the color on another building.  Or you go back and redo all the little doodads that stick out from that Empire State Building antenna.  Working at that point a pixel at a time.

The workflow was the usual – NIK and Photoshop for masking.  My favorite part that kept me going was being able to isolate the sky in Photoshop and then just work on that part in NIK Color Effex.  Then rejoining it to the original photo.  Really close up you can even see that the torch of the Statue of Liberty is a bright yellow slash.
