I’m pretty sure that any New York photographer has a bunch of steam shots, whether they saw Taxi Driver or not. I came across this one while looking for the lost negative; and it’s one of my favorite steam shots.

Dave, this strongly reminds me of something but I can’t quite think of what. Almost “Day of the Triffids”, which I know wasn’t set in New York, but those street lamps…
Has an apocolyptic feel to it. Very nice.
Great photo. Shows the grit and harsh atmosphere of the city.
The twisted lamp post looks like a futuristic plant.
Awesome shot, probably my fav in the past few weeks. I’m from the other side of the world but I do know of this NY steam phenomenon, still i’m not sure exactly what it’s coming out of here, it looks like a small purpose built chimney just above head height. Forgive my ignorance.
