Oh yeah. That was scary for a moment since that’s my only “straight” camera that I have. Turns out that with a little reading I came up with the reason for the recall.
Someone, at this point one person, found some white material on the handgrip, you know that black textured stuff on the right side of the camera where you hold it, and he (or it could have been she) had an allergic reaction.
Panic. Recall. The black stuff is turning white.
Uhm. But turns out, as far as I could figure, there was one camera out of some 50,000 cameras that had this disaster. You could look it up by serial numbers (yes, mine is one of them). But I’m not sending a camera back because of that. I looked at the black part of the camera and I don’t see anything wrong with it. I even used a magnifying glass. All seems well.
So I’ll take my chances. If it starts to turn white and it’s not under warranty, I’ll wear gloves.
