I spent about a year going back to my old haunts in the Bronx. The spots that still brought back memories. The Paradise Theatre was a special place for us kids. Palatial. Royal. It was like walking into a palace. Sometimes, we’d just sit there, before the show and stare up at the magnificent ceiling with paintings of the universe.
The theatre was abandoned for many years. As I’m writing this, it has been refurbished and turned into a performance center. This image was shot with a long lens from the roof of a building on the other side of the Grand Concourse. circa 1995
