FEATURE LENGTH DOCUMENTARY ABOUT MATT WEBER AND OTHER NYC PHOTOGRAPHERS (MYSELF INCLUDED)

The film is called More Than the Rainbow and it’s not only finished but has been accepted in prestigious film festivals. I expect to have more information about showings and release dates by mid-October. I’m really looking forward to seeing myself on film. It’s a high-end production that has been in the works for four years. You’ll recognize many of the photographers in it. No, I haven’t seen it yet. But I’m told that I did not end up on the cutting room floor. Sept. 2012

* * * I did see it. Premiered at the New York Film Festival for Documentaries – and then at the San Francisco Film Festival. * * *

Design Magazine

Dec. 2009. Just received a copy of Harvard Design Magazine Fall/Winter 2009/10. Poets Walk, Winter gets a full page in the article by Gary R. Hilderbrand. Also included in this article: Caravaggio, Crucifixion of Saint Peter, Eugene Atget, Quai d’Anjou, 1924, and a few other fellas you might’ve heard of. Maybe it’s available in bookstores, don’t know. My shot is on page – 84. It is of course beautifully designed.

IN FEATURE LENGTH DOCUMENTARY ABOUT NEW YORK STREET PHOTOGRAPHERS

The film is still under wraps, but information will be available this October (2012). A feature length documentary with many well-known New York street photographers is due for release very soon and I’ve been told that I didn’t end up on the cutting room floor. Sign up for the newsletter if you want to be notified when it is released.

I was lucky enough to be included in two documentaries about New York photographers which will be released in 2010. One of the documentaries is about a friend – Matt Weber. The other one is about the famous photographer Helen Levitt. It was an honor to be included in both films. In both instances I’m one of several street photographers that are followed around as we work and then interviewed. The last interview lasted 2 hours and when it was over the director asked me to look into the camera and tell them my name. By that time I had practically forgotten that bit of information and we all had a good laugh.

Several of my photographs will be used for art decoration (takes place in New York) in major motion picture. I’ve promised not to say anything about it until it’s released but I don’t think they’d mind if I said it stars Hilary Swank.

.
This was a very competitive contest for black and white photographers. I was nominated, and published in their book: The World’s Greatest Black & White Photography. (I don’t know about that, but there were some very good photographers in the book.). This was the first contest I ever entered, and I did it because my father kept nagging me to enter a contest. I sent in one image, the Man Crossing Brooklyn Bridge which was nominated and included in the book. (The Spider Awards, 2007)

I enjoy seeing my images as book covers. Especially, as in this case when I can’t read the language. This was a first novel by a Greek writer. The photo is Boy with Dog though the dog was airbrushed out.

Kid in Sprinkler used in the 2008 Multi-Episode Ovation Channel Documentary: The Genius of Photography. The first episode. You need to watch carefully, it goes by very quickly in a montage. An honor to even be included for a brief second with the greatest photographers. The documentary plays every few weeks on the Ovation Channel.

A novel – published in 2008. The image used: View From Manhattan Bridge (Infrared Film). Considering how difficult it is to get a first novel published, I consider it an honor to have one of my images used on the cover.

300 prints were used in the Hilton Millennium Hotel, Wall Street. I never did get a good shot of the rooms. This was something I found while searching web reviews of the hotel. Paradise Clock and Grand Central Arches.

Write up about my photographs in New York Spaces Magazine on the My Favorite Places Page. When this issue came out, I received calls from all over New York asking for prints of Poet’s Walk in sepia. The magazine did it up in sepia, but the print has always been just good old-fashioned black and white.

Prints Displayed In Kips Bay Designer House Event

The 2007 Kips Bay Designer House is an annual event for interior designers to show their best work. It’s all pretty fancy and as I remember it is held on 80th street and fifth avenue, near the Metropolitan Museum of Art. There is a charge to visit the various rooms, and the proceeds are given to a charity in the Bronx. I found that ironic since I’m from the Bronx. I think they used four or six of my prints. The room my photographs were used in was done up as 1960′s retro..

My photographs have appeared in many magazines and books. I especially like how this one turned out (The Secret Garden) for the cover of Southern Poetry Review.

40 photographs in Palace Restaurant, 57th & Park, New York

I can’t always get clients to send me images of how the prints were used in corporate offices, hospitals etc. But I was able to go back to this restaurant after the prints were up and take pictures. I did enjoy eating my cheeseburger deluxe with my images all around me (top floor and bottom floor).
